Director Slava Leontyev delves into the heart of war-torn Ukraine, capturing how artists transform tragedy into a powerful statement of resilience.
Resilience in Porcelain is a visually stunning and emotionally charged documentary set in war-torn Ukraine, where art and conflict collide. Kharkiv-based artists Slava Leontyev and Anya Stasenko, renowned for their delicate porcelain figurines, face an agonizing choice as war encroaches: flee or stay and fight. Joined by fellow artist Andrey Stefanov, they choose to remain, transforming their fragile art into a symbol of defiance and resilience.
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at Sundance, this powerful debut contrasts the beauty of porcelain with striking combat and drone footage, exploring themes of resistance, identity, and the enduring strength of creativity. Exquisite animation weaves through the narrative, enhancing its poignant exploration of art’s role in survival.
